About us

After studying Astronomy and completing several years of PhD research, I had a short interruption for military service (as a platoon commander in mechanized infantry). I then entered what was, at the time, a completely new world to me: relational databases (Oracle) and the SQL programming language, applied within the Rapier maintenance management system.

Starting as a (junior) programmer at SQL Systems, I progressed to project manager, then product manager, and ultimately consultant. This allowed me to focus on what I enjoy most: analyzing problems (and requirements) and designing and implementing effective solutions. In doing so, I always take data structures as the starting point.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work across a wide range of industries, including rail and bus transport, facility management, pharmaceuticals, aviation, building management, and offshore.

Outside of work (often spent behind a laptop), I enjoy outdoor sports such as canoeing — touring, sea, and whitewater — as well as ice skating, inline skating, and mountain hiking, both with and without via ferrata. I have since left behind activities such as caving, canyoning, cross-country touring, and telemark skiing (the original form of skiing). I would also describe Scottish single malt whisky as a passion of mine.
